Chrysler Tuned by Mopar at SEMA .
Chrysler has a vehicle to suit all tastes, and all parking spot sizes, at this year’s annual SEMA show in Las Vegas.  Thanks to its partnership with Fiat, the Italian automaker’s pocket-sized 500 coupe is adding a dash of city-car bravado to Chrysler’s standard fare of hunkered down muscle machines. That’s not to suggest Chrysler and its Mopar aftermarket division are giving up on thunderous V-8 engines and massive alloy wheels. Both are well represented by the likes of the Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR coupe and the Chrysler 300 SF6.

Asphalt-scarring performance is easy to find over at Dodge, where the Challenger SRT8 gets taken up another notch thanks to ACR hardware. Based on the Challenger SRT8 392, the ACR version is fitted with a coil-over suspension, front and rear chassis braces, short-throw shifter, front splitter, cat-back exhaust, custom exhaust headers and Goodyear F1 Supercar performance tires. The cabin includes carbon-fiber door panels and front bucket seats with openings for a racing harness. The rear seat is removed entirely, replaced by a heavy-duty roll bar and fire extinguisher.
There’s no mistaking the SRT8 ACR for a lesser Challenger, thanks to its bright white paint coupled with an offset red stripe and matching side mirrors. A charcoal roof matches the car’s carbon-fiber hood, rear decklid, Dodge spoiler and taillight surround. Five-spoke 20-in. alloy wheels and red ACR fender badging complete the visual transformation.

The Dodge Durango returns in model-year 2011, moving to the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform. Due to begin production in November 2010, the new 2011 Dodge Durango will have a 119.8 inch wheelbase — several inches longer than the new Grand Cherokee. 

The lineup starts with the well-equipped Express model, and quickly moves to Durango Crew, which has remote start, rear backup camera, memory seats, and power liftgate. The CrewLux option package includes 20 inch wheels, heated leather seats (first and second rows), Garmin navigation system, and other features. The R/T version has a sport suspension (with 20 mm lower ride height), V8, 20 inch three-season performance Dodge tires, standard HID headlamps, unique interior, and monochromatic exterior, with optional performance “summer tires;”  Heat is similar to R/T but gives up the HID headlamps and V8.
Finally, the top end is the Durango Citadel, with heated and ventilated seats covered in perforated Nappa leather, visible stitching, chrome-plated wheels, blind spot monitor, high intensity discharge lights, and a unique chrome grille, along with other items.

Here’s an odd rumor floating around the cyberether: Despite the fact that Dodge has previously said that the next-generation Viper won’t arrive until late 2012 as a 2013 model, reports are surfacing indicating that the automaker may display the vehicle at a charity event in Miami next month. According to Top Speed, Dodge will pay a visit to Ride and Smiles at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The charity allows children who suffer from chronic illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, Crohn’s disease and Colitis to ride along with current NASCAR drivers around the 2.3-mile road course in some of the hottest cars on the market right now.
Top Speed reports that one of the vehicles in attendance will be the next-generation Viper, though no source has been given for that information.
Far be it from us to rain on that parade, but a small charity event in Florida seems like an unlikely spot to unveil the new face of the Dodge halo car. Perhaps they’ll show a teaser image or a mule? Earlier reports have indicated that the 2013 Viper would first be seen at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, which would seem to be a more fitting venue. Stay tuned.

Autoblog found this Twitter photo, apparently taken from inside a Chrysler facility, of the upcoming Dodge Durango replacement, possibly to be named Dodge Magnum.  The seven-passenger utility vehicle is known to be moving from its modified Dodge Dakota origins to the engineered-for-the-purpose Grand Cherokee chassis, lengthened, restyled, and stripped of some off-road features. The photo appears to be genuine and shot with a camera phone. It aligns fairly closely with Stephen Weigel’s rendering based on Chrysler patent applications, which has been posted at Allpar for some months.
Dodge is planning to use “lifestyle” names for the new Magnum models — Boulevard, Citadel, Crew, Express, Heat, and R/T (the latter having the Hemi); reports claim that the Magnum-Durango will be several inches longer in wheelbase and length than the Grand Cherokee. It will, contrary to our expectations from seeing a past mule, have the same downward-sloping roofline and the same basic shape, ameliorated by different sheet metal curves and a different front and rear appearance.
